Project Linus – Make a Blanket, Help a Child

Auto Remedy is excited to announce that we are now a collection site for Project Linus!

Project Linus exists to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children and teens who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”

Project Linus blankets should be “handmade” or “homemade” and not commercially manufactured or purchased. Special care should be taken to ensure that blankets are free of smoky smells or any chemicals which could cause problems for a child. Ensure that blankets are free of contaminants and pet or animal hair. Check blankets carefully for pins, and remove any embellishments such as buttons that could be swallowed. Materials must be new, unused, washable, and free of contaminants such as mold, mildew, and smoke. They should be cotton or cotton/poly blend fabrics. Cotton or acrylic batting is acceptable and yarns that are washable.

Material Donations also accepted. Materials must be new, unused, washable, and free of contaminants such as mold, mildew, and smoke. They should be cotton or cotton/poly blend fabrics. Cotton or acrylic batting is acceptable and yarns that are washable.

There is a collection box in our lobby at 1101 Old Raleigh Rd in Apex, NC

All handmade blanket styles are welcome:

  • Quilts
  • Tied Comforters
  • Fleece Blankets
  • Crocheted or Knitted Afghans
  • Blankets in Child and Teen-Friendly Colors

*Always remember that blankets must be handmade, washable, free of pins and pet hair, and come from smoke-free environments due to allergy reasons.*
